As a buyer why don't I simply go to a supplier's "sell-side" website to place orders? |

Obviously you are free to do so. However most buyers of chemicals, both large and small, have told us that they do not want to surf to a different website each time they want to buy something from yet another supplier. Besides the inconvenience of doing so it is also not efficient to have your quotes and purchase orders scattered over a large number of supplier websites: this would eliminate the possibility of comparing different offers in a single overview. Last but not least: by using the Sourcing Portal, YOU specify what exactly your requirements are and it is up to the Supplier to confirm that their specs meet yours. When you use their system the roles are inversed and it is up to you to define whether their spec is acceptable to you (repeatedly for each inquiry for each product for each supplier!).
