Why don't I use my ERP instead of implementing new software such as the Sourcing Portal? |
|
| |
ERPs are designed to streamline internal processes. The Sourcing Portal streamlines the external process of communicating with (approved) suppliers. The ERP-era started in the 80's when there was not yet a stable environment such as the Internet to support inter-company automation. The result is that even large multinationals that have reached sophisticated levels of automation in processes such as invoicing and production, still review MRP stock-runs manually and send out paper faxes for price quotes.
