	ChemUnicator - Issue 3 - January 2001 In the world of e-Commerce the year 2000 has been rather turbulent. After initial hype, more realism has set in during the second half of the year. Many e-commerce companies had to stop their activities due to lack of funds. The inevitable shake out has been set in motion. ChemUnity's unique concept has found a great deal of interest in the market. Because of this, the company has been able to secure substantial funding. This will ensure it will continue to be able to further develop the business in 2001: a clear note of confidence by investors in its business model! There is evidence that in 2001 the business environment will become more difficult. The US situation is likely to have an impact on global markets, including Europe. This increasingly competitive environment will make it even more imperative for companies to optimize the use of IT solutions in order to improve service and reduce costs.
