ChemUnity's tools all focus on helping buyers of chemicals to apply a new technology (the Internet) to streamline existing business processes: decreasing routine work, easing communication lines with approved suppliers, etc. This is clearly different from tools that specifically aim at creating price erosion, such as reverse auctions. ChemUnity prefers to pursue win-win situations rather than promoting unsustainable pressures on customer-supplier relationships.
For sellers with e-commerce initiatives having customers using ChemUnity’s Procurement Suite is an advantage since it provides an e-environment to link with.
For sellers that have not (yet) deployed own e-commerce activities, participation allows them to build up some e-commerce experience maintaining a “win-win” situation.
Just like buyers, sellers that use the Sourcing Portal enjoy the benefits of handling the information from all customers in one single environment, instead of different web-environments for each e-enabled customer.
